The Congress Information & Opportunity Centre has received funding from the Family Support Agency for a number of years now. This funding is specifically given to provide bereavement counselling and support to families who have been affected by the death of a family member. This is provided by the CIOC through group educational grief and loss workshops, “Good Grief” program, and one to one counselling if preferred. These services are provided free of charge to eligible people.
The Family Support Agency also provides funding for counselling services to children whose lives have been affected by parental separation. Again this service is free of charge for eligible children.
